INTERVIEW:
What or who inspires you?
I am inspired by people who are proactive and passionate. They are on a mission to create change. Working within a circle of positive people is a delight.
What drives you in your passions?
I love to help others and see them grow both professionally and personally. I finally made it to that place people used to tell me about ‘when you do what you love and get paid for it’.
It must be busy with business and being a mum, where do you find the energy (healthy eating, fitness, etc.)?
Once I settled into some sort of routine as a new mum, I engaged the help of experts to help me achieve my goals of health and fitness. Some of the experts include nutritionists and Personal Trainers, others are my friends who probably do not realise they are my regular energy top-ups!
Have there been any major obstacles or life challenges you have had to overcome?
I 2009 was a huge year for me personally and professionally. I became a mother, I launched www.myambition.com, I moved to the south coast and launched another business. The challenge I have had to overcome was not knowing anyone locally, not having family around to support me and just getting my head down and getting on with it all. In the darkest sleep deprived moments it was pretty emotional but when I had highs they were pretty spectacular.
Whose work do you admire in the industry and why?
I admire many people working as coaches and I catch up with my network at every opportunity. As a collective, the coaching industry is making such a positive impact on people’s professional and personal lives.
What is unusual or unique about your business, in comparison to your competitors or similar businesses?
myambition.com is a career development website that offers advice to progress people’s careers. It is packed with free articles, online tutorials and coaching programs. We do not have a job board attached or advertising on the site. Whether a candidate is looking for resume advice or how to interview, myambition.com is an easy to use, one-stop shop for advice and instant confidence.
What are your plans for the future?
Having a healthy and balanced approach to work and home, being a ‘present’ mother, wife and friend. I also plan to expand our library of online career tutorials, continue to develop my brand and ‘speaker’ profile in the subject of career management and generally help people be the best they can be. As well as juggling a few more balls no doubt!
Does your business have an online presence on other social web spaces like: Yelp? Facebook? MySpace? YouTube? etc.

What insights do you have for other mums in running a business either from home or workplace?
Chunk your day into work and non-work tasks. I try not to let them become one.
Be forgiving of yourself, you can only do what you can do.
Take advantage of the baby-sleeps by tackling the big jobs like a workout or work-project!!
Take some time out, from both motherhood and career – have ME time!
